About this Skeletal Semi-Trailer

Our skeletal semi-trailer is a bare chassis with twist locks and no flat deck — built purely to carry ISO shipping containers at the lowest tare weight. Built in Liangshan — China's trailer manufacturing hub — every unit is engineered to meet the road, dimension and axle-load regulations of your destination country, so it is legal to register and operate on local highways.

Fixed, extendable and gooseneck variants handle 20 ft through 45 ft High-Cube boxes, and the frame itself becomes a structural member once locked.

Other Common Sizes & Configurations

Beyond the standard build, we make these Skeletal Semi-Trailer variants to match different cargo and local road rules — all sizes, axle counts and capacities listed above are configurable to your specification:

  • 40 ft chassis — 3-axle, 30.5–35.4 t; port standard
  • 20 ft / 30 ft — shorter boxes on 2-axle builds
  • 45 ft High-Cube — tall boxes within height limits
  • Extendable chassis — one frame for 20–45 ft
  • Gooseneck / flat beam — lowers tare and deck

How the Skeletal Semi-Trailer Compares

Not sure which trailer type fits your cargo? Here is how the Skeletal Semi-Trailer differs from close alternatives.

vs Flatbed Semi-Trailer

Skeletal has only a frame and twist locks — lightest and fastest for boxes; the Flatbed Semi-Trailer has a full deck for loose cargo and equipment.

vs Lowbed Semi-Trailer

Both lack a full deck, but skeletal carries only containers; the Lowbed Semi-Trailer carries oversized machinery on a low drop deck.

vs Cargo Box Semi-Trailer

Skeletal is open frame for boxes only; the Cargo Box Semi-Trailer is an enclosed body for pallet and piece goods.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the lead time for a Skeletal Semi-Trailer?
Standard configurations ship in 20–30 days; extendable or 4-axle builds may take longer. We confirm the exact date in the proforma invoice.
Do you handle shipping to my country?
Yes. We ship FOB Qingdao or CIF to major ports in Africa, the Middle East and South America, and can arrange container, RORO or bulk shipment.
Can the trailer be customized?
Yes. Axle count, box length, twist-lock positions and gooseneck vs flat beam are all adjustable.
What is the difference between a skeletal and a flatbed?
A skeletal is frame-and-locks only — lightest for containers; a flatbed has a full deck for general cargo.
Can one skeletal carry different box lengths?
Yes. An extendable chassis covers 20–45 ft; fixed chassis are set to one length for simplicity and lower cost.
How much can a 3-axle skeletal carry?
About 30.5–35.4 t payload within the 40 t GVW class, limited by both box weight and road rules.
Does the frame add strength?
Yes. Once the box is locked, the container walls become part of the semi-trailer's structure, lowering tare.
Is the skeletal trailer legal for road use?
Every unit is engineered to meet the dimension, axle-load and GVW limits of your destination country's road regulations. We confirm the build against your local rules before shipment.
Which suspension is better — mechanical or air?
Mechanical leaf is the durable port default; air ride is optional for smoother box transport on long hauls.
