About this Special Semi-Trailer

Our special semi-trailer range covers the heavy-haul jobs ordinary trailers cannot do. A hydraulic detachable gooseneck (HDG) Lowboy carries ultra-low, concentrated loads; an extendable flatbed/lowbed stretches to 30 m+ for wind towers and long pipes; and SPMT modules self-propel and steer in any direction for tens-of-thousands-of-tonne pieces. Built in Liangshan — China's trailer manufacturing hub — every unit is engineered to your cargo and the road-permit limits of your destination country.

These are oversize/overweight transports that usually require route surveys and permits; we size axle lines, deck height and steering to your project.

Other Common Sizes & Configurations

Beyond the standard build, we make these Special Semi-Trailer variants to match different cargo and routes — all sizes, axle counts and capacities listed above are configurable to your specification:

  • Lowboy (HDG) — deck 560–610 mm, 32–150 t single unit
  • Extendable — 14–18.5 m stowed, 30–33.5 m stretched
  • SPMT — self-propelled modules, 48–70 t per axle line, hundreds of lines
  • Multi-axle / modular — active steering ±25° for tight sites
  • Gooseneck type — fixed / RGN / hydraulic detachable

How the Special Semi-Trailer Compares

Not sure which trailer type fits your cargo? Here is how the Special Semi-Trailer differs from close alternatives.

vs Lowbed Semi-Trailer

Special is the extreme end — Lowboy (HDG) with sub-600 mm deck, extendable to 30 m+, or self-propelled SPMT; the Lowbed Semi-Trailer is the general low-platform range for standard oversize loads.

vs Flatbed Semi-Trailer

Special carries ultra-heavy,超长 or超重 pieces that a flatbed cannot; the Flatbed Semi-Trailer is a fixed-length general deck.

vs Dump Semi-Trailer

Special moves oversize machinery and structures; the Dump Semi-Trailer tips bulk material. Different cargo and duty entirely.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the lead time for a Special Semi-Trailer?
Lowboy and extendable builds typically ship in 35–55 days; SPMT and multi-axle modular projects take longer. We confirm the exact date in the proforma invoice.
Do you handle shipping to my country?
Yes. We ship FOB Qingdao or CIF to major ports in Africa, the Middle East and South America, and can arrange container, RORO or bulk shipment.
Can the trailer be customized?
Yes. Deck height, axle-line count, gooseneck type (fixed / RGN / HDG) and steering are all adjustable to your cargo and route.
What is the difference between a Lowboy and a Lowbed?
A Lowboy (HDG) is the extreme-low, hydraulically detachable subclass for concentrated超重 loads; a Lowbed is the general low-platform range. Lowboy decks sit around 560–610 mm.
When do I need an extendable trailer?
For超长 indivisible loads such as wind towers, blades and long pipes that exceed a standard deck length — the deck stretches from ~18 m to 30 m+.
What is an SPMT and when is it used?
A Self-Propelled Modular Transporter is a powered, all-wheel-steering module that moves tens of thousands of tonnes (bridge sections, vessels, reactors) without a tractor. Used for the heaviest pieces.
Do these require road permits?
Yes. Oversize/overweight transports usually need route surveys and permits. We size the trailer to your permitted axle loads and dimensions and can advise on transport planning.
Is the special trailer legal for road use?
Within permitted limits, every unit is engineered to the road, dimension and axle-load rules of your destination country. We confirm the build against your local permit before shipment.
Which suspension is better — mechanical or air?
Heavy-haul Lowboys use hydraulic or mechanical suspension for load control; SPMT uses hydraulic independently for each axle line. Air ride is uncommon at this weight class.
